About sections are revision-controlled. Editing a section creates a new revision underneath the previous one rather than overwriting it.
What happens when you edit
A new row is INSERTed in the same revision group as the original.
The new row becomes the latest revision — staff see this when they open the section.
Old revisions stay accessible through the section's history (moderator-only view).
Read receipts reset implicitly — the new revision has zero "read by" entries, so staff are prompted to re-read.
An
about.section_updatedworkflow trigger fires (if any workflows listen for it).
Who can revise
area moderators and realm admins can edit any section. Regular users cannot.
Viewing history
Moderators can open the section's History link to see every prior revision, who wrote it, and when. Older revisions are read-only — you can't "restore" an old version (but you can copy its content into a new edit).
Heads up — Edits are immediate and visible to everyone. There is no "draft revision" workflow. If you need to draft a major change quietly, write it in a separate document first and paste in once you're ready.
