Approval requests

A queue of off-schedule, retrospective and CD-witness administrations awaiting manager approval.

When the realm sets blocking or non-blocking approval mode for off-schedule, retrospective or CD-witness recordings, those administrations create an entry on the Approvals queue.

Three approval modes

Mode

Behaviour

None

No approval needed. Administration proceeds normally.

Non-blocking

Administration proceeds immediately. Approval is requested in parallel for retrospective review.

Blocking

Administration is held in the approval queue until a manager approves it.

Approval types

  • Off-schedule — administration outside the buffer window.

  • Retrospective — administration recorded after the fact.

  • CD witness confirmation — the witness on a controlled-drug administration confirms or disputes the recording.

Statuses

  • pending — awaiting decision.

  • approved — manager approved.

  • rejected — manager rejected.

  • expired — no decision within the configured timeout; auto-expired.

  • cancelled — the recording was withdrawn before a decision.

Working the queue

  1. Open eMAR → More → Approvals.

  2. Find pending items. Open one to see the full administration context.

  3. Approve or reject, adding a reason if your local policy requires one.

  4. The decision goes back to the recorder and the audit trail.
