Carerealm keeps records for as long as the realm exists. Most realms intentionally keep records indefinitely because regulators expect access to historical care plans years after a supported person has moved on.
Archiving vs deletion
Archive an area when a supported person leaves your service. Data is preserved but hidden from day-to-day lists.
Delete an area only when you're sure you won't need its records. Deletion is a multi-step confirmation and triggers a 30-day soft-delete period during which a realm admin can restore.
Realm-wide deletion
If you wind down your organisation, you can request a full realm deletion. This is processed by Carerealm support after confirming with two named admins.
Subject access requests
GDPR subject access requests (right to access, right to be forgotten) are supported. Email support to start the process — we'll help you produce the relevant data and, if appropriate, delete specific records.
