Three role tiers apply inside any area:
Role | Can do |
|---|---|
Regular member | Read everything in apps that are turned on. Write diary entries, complete forms, record eMAR doses, mark About sections read, view files. Cannot change settings, lock entries, archive, or moderate. |
area moderator | Everything a regular member can, plus: edit area settings (including the apps toggle), edit/publish About sections, edit-or-archive diary entries via the admin-edit path, cancel queued forms even if they didn't create them, lock and unlock forms (some flows). |
Realm admin | Everything a moderator can, plus: lock diary entries, edit/remove diary entries via the admin path, run bulk diary exports, see the admin audit history, manage realm-wide settings, see every area in the realm. |
Where roles are set
Realm admin — set when the user is invited, or later via Admin → Account directory. Each user is either an "Admin account" or a "Regular account".
area moderator — set per-area in the Moderators multi-select on the area's Settings → Permissions page.
How to tell which role you have
There's no role badge on the area overview. Tell-tale signs:
You see Settings in the area sidebar → you're at least a moderator on this area.
You see the Admin section in the main side menu → you're a realm admin.
Moderator on one {{area}}, regular member on another
Roles are per-area. The same user can be a moderator on the areas they directly support and a regular member elsewhere. Realm admins have all permissions everywhere, regardless of moderator lists.
