Homely remedies register

A separate OTC register for non-prescription medications (paracetamol, antacids, etc.) given on protocol.

Homely remedies are over-the-counter medications that staff can give on a standing protocol — without a per-incident prescription — for minor self-limiting symptoms (headache, mild indigestion, etc.). Carerealm keeps them in their own register so they don't clutter the regular MAR.

Adding to the register

  1. Open eMAR → More → Homely Remedies.

  2. Click Register Homely Remedy.

  3. Enter the medication name, dosage, indication, and any contraindications.

  4. Set the max duration (default 48 hours) — if the symptom persists beyond this, staff must escalate.

  5. Save.

Recording an administration

Record an OTC administration via the dedicated Homely Remedies page. The recording captures the symptom, the dose, the time, and the staff member.

Heads up — Don't use homely remedies as a workaround for missing prescriptions. A regular medication should be on the main MAR with a proper prescription — homely remedies are for incidental, short-term symptom relief only.
