Adding a new medication

Add a medication to an area's eMAR with prescription detail, schedule, expiry and safety fields.

Adding

  1. Open eMAR → Medications.

  2. Click Add medication.

  3. Fill in the prescription detail. Only Medication name is server-required; everything else (dosage, form, route, frequency, directions) is optional but strongly recommended for a complete MAR.

  4. Set the schedule (days + times, or PRN — see Setting up schedules).

  5. Configure expiry tracking (Medication expiry) if the medication has a fixed expiry date.

  6. Configure safety fields — max_daily_doses, off-schedule rules, controlled-drug flag if applicable.

  7. Save. The medication appears on the timeline starting from its earliest scheduled time.

Fields you can set

  • Prescription — name, dosage, form, route, frequency, directions.

  • Schedule — days of week, times of day, week-cycle rotation.

  • PRN — see PRN setup.

  • Expiry — auto-expire when the date passes, with optional notification email.

  • Stock — deduction per dose, unit name, deduction mode.

  • Off-schedule — whether off-schedule administrations are allowed; reason required toggle; per-medication buffer overrides.

  • Controlled drug — flag plus schedule (CD2-5) and witness-required toggle.

  • Covert — flag plus MCA reference + review date (see Covert administration).
