Carerealm has three persistent surfaces: the header along the top, the side menu on the left, and the per-page content area in the middle.
The header
From left to right:
Logo — clicks back to the dashboard. Replaced by your realm's logo if branding is enabled.
Help icon (?) — opens the help centre in a new tab.
Notification bell — recent activity from anywhere you have access. A coloured dot appears when there's something new; click a notification to jump straight to what it's about.
Avatar — your account menu. Three items: My dashboard, My account, Sign out. The My account page is where you change your name, password, 2FA, notification preferences and theme.
Theme switcher — a sun/moon toggle sits next to your avatar. Switch instantly between light, dark, and system-default themes.
Note — The header does not include a search box. To search, use the keyboard shortcut
Cmd+K(Ctrl+Kon Windows), or click Quick search in the side menu.
The side menu
What you see depends on your role. Every user sees:
Dashboard — your home page.
My areas — the list of areas you have access to.
Inbox — secure messaging with other staff (only shown when your realm has messaging enabled).
Quick search — opens the platform-wide search palette. Same as
Cmd+K.Policies & Procedures — your realm's policy library.
My account — your personal settings.
Support — link to the help centre.
Logout — signs you out.
Realm admins also see an Admin section below:
Shared forms — realm-wide form templates.
Area manager — bulk view of every area.
Account directory — users, invites and roles.
Activity Logs — realm-wide audit trail.
Workflows — automation builder.
Billing — subscription, invoices, AI plan.
Settings — branding, wording, features, security and messaging administration.
Note — Messaging admin (channel browser, audit export, retention rules) used to be its own side-menu entry but is now a section inside Settings → Messaging. Old
/admin/messagingURLs still redirect to the new location.
Inside an area
When you open an area, the side menu replaces the realm-level list with the apps available in that area: Diary, About, eMAR, Forms, Reminders, Calendar, Files, Contacts, Money, Activity Logs (whichever the area's moderators have switched on). Click an app to open it; click the area's name at the top of the menu to return to its overview.
