Recurring reminders

How daily, weekly and monthly recurrence works — and what happens after the end date.

Recurring reminders save you from creating the same task 52 times a year. Carerealm supports three patterns plus an optional end date.

Supported patterns

Pattern

Behaviour

Daily

Advances by 24 hours each time the reminder is completed.

Weekly

Advances by 7 days.

Monthly

Advances by 30 days. (NB: not calendar months — a monthly reminder due on the 1st will drift earlier over a year.)

Heads up — Monthly recurrence steps by 30 days, not by calendar month. If you need "always the 15th of the month" precision, use the Calendar instead — calendar events have proper month-aware recurrence.

How completion advances a recurrence

When you mark a recurring reminder complete, the server doesn't flip its state to "Completed" — it advances the due date by one interval and leaves the reminder active. So your "Empty bins" daily reminder is always one tick away from the next due time.

End date

Set the optional "Recur until" date and Carerealm stops advancing past it. Once the recurrence end is reached, the next completion moves the reminder to Completed properly.

What's NOT supported

  • Custom intervals (e.g. every 3 days, every 6 weeks).

  • Day-of-week patterns (e.g. every Tuesday and Thursday).

  • Day-of-month patterns (e.g. last Friday of the month).

Tip — For complex schedules, use the Calendar for the recurrence and add reminders as simple one-offs. The calendar handles day-of-week and "first Monday of the month" patterns properly.
