The Staff Rota is a paid bolt-on. Until a realm admin adds it, the rota is locked: staff won't see My shifts in the top menu, and rota pages show a *Staff Rota isn't enabled* message.
Only a realm admin can switch it on, and it's done from the Billing page — not the rota settings.
How to turn it on
On the Billing page, find the Staff Rota card under Add-ons & power-ups and choose Add Staff Rota. Once the subscription is active, the rota unlocks across all your areas.
What unlocks once it's active
My shifts appears in the top navigation for every staff member.
Each area gains a Staff Rota tab for building and viewing its rota.
Rota overview appears under the Admin menu for managers and admins.
The full Rota settings hub becomes available — pay rates, staff roles, skills & training, funders, permissions and documents & e-signing.
Your rota data is retained if the add-on is ever cancelled, so it's there again should you re-subscribe.
- 1Open the **Admin** menu and go to **Billing**
- 2Scroll to **Add-ons & power-ups** and find the **Staff Rota** card
- 3Choose **Add Staff Rota** and confirm
- 4Wait for the card to show *Unlocked — the rota is now available across your areas*
- If a rota page shows an **Explore Staff Rota** button, the add-on isn't active yet — that button takes admins to Billing.
- Only realm admins can add or cancel the add-on; ask an admin if you don't have access to Billing.
