Using Round Mode (Administer button)

Step through every due dose for an area in one guided session.

Round Mode walks you through every dose that's due — one after another — so a single carer can do a medication round end-to-end without flipping between the timeline and the recorder.

Heads up — Round Mode requires Enable Round Mode to be turned on in eMAR Settings. When the flag is off, the Administer button on the timeline opens the single-medication recorder instead. Realm admins can toggle this at eMAR → Settings (or per area if your service has overrides).

Starting a round

  1. Click Administer in the eMAR nav.

  2. A queue of due doses appears. Confirm you're ready to begin.

  3. For each dose, pick an outcome: Given, Refused, Missed, or More options for the rest.

  4. Refusals and non-given outcomes prompt for a note.

  5. Move on to the next dose until the queue is empty.

  6. You'll see a summary screen: given, refused, missed, total. Submit to close the round.

What's captured per round

  • Who started the round and at what time.

  • Who completed it.

  • How many medications were due, how many were administered.

  • Per-dose notes you entered.

If you need to step away mid-round

Round sessions persist. If you close the tab or get pulled away, opening Round Mode again resumes from the last unanswered dose. Another carer can't take over an in-progress round — sign in as yourself to continue, or hand over verbally and let the next carer start a fresh round.

Tip — For services where Round Mode is enabled, set up named rounds (Morning, Lunch, Tea, Bed) via Managing rounds to limit each round to only the doses scheduled in that window.
