Recording breaks

Log a break while you're clocked in, and see how paid versus unpaid breaks change your recorded hours.

If you take a break during a shift, record it so your worked hours are accurate. You can only log a break while you're clocked in.

Logging a break

Once you're clocked in, a Start break button appears. Tap it when your break begins and you'll see an On break label. When you're back, tap End break to go back to working. You can take more than one break in a shift — just start and end each one.

You can't start a second break while one is already running, and you can't end a break you haven't started — the app will tell you if a tap doesn't match your current state.

Whether a break is paid is set on the shift itself, not by you:

  • Unpaid break — the break time is taken off your worked hours. If you work 8 hours with a 30-minute unpaid break, that's 7.5 hours of work.

  • Paid break — the break time still counts towards your paid hours, so your pay isn't reduced for it.

Either way, recording the break keeps your timesheet honest. If you forget to tap End break, the system closes the break automatically when you clock out so it isn't counted as working time.

Step-by-step
  1. 1Make sure you're clocked in — you'll see the **Clocked in** label.
  2. 2When your break starts, tap **Start break**. The label changes to **On break**.
  3. 3When you return, tap **End break** to carry on working.
  4. 4Clock out as normal at the end of the shift.
Tips
  • Always tap **End break** when you're back — it keeps your hours accurate, even though a forgotten break is auto-closed at clock-out.
  • Not sure whether your break is paid? Check with your manager — it's set per shift.
